K-3 Assistant Director
Mrs. Wood began her career in education as a classroom teacher before transitioning into administration. She is now entering her sixth year as Assistant Director at Good Foundations Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Honors from the University of Phoenix and holds a Professional Educator License through the State of Utah. This year marks her sixteenth year in education.
Her teaching experience includes two years in Kindergarten and seven years in First Grade at GFA. Prior to joining the GFA team, she taught full-day Kindergarten at Christian Heritage School.
She is passionate about the rigor and richness of the Core Knowledge curriculum and loves seeing her students engage with learning in meaningful and exciting ways. She holds a deep appreciation for the students she has had the privilege to teach and each one holds a special place in her heart. Her greatest hope is that every student at GFA experiences growth, joy, and a sense of pride in their educational journey.
During her time as a teacher at GFA, she served in several leadership roles, including First Grade Lead Teacher and Teacher Representative on the Guardian Committee. She also contributed to various school committees and collaborative teams dedicated to student success.
She's been married to her husband, Kyle, for 24 years, and together they have three wonderful children. Their son, Noah, is a GFA graduate who earned his associate’s degree from Weber State University while attending NUAMES High School. Their daughter, Bella, is also a GFA graduate and a Northridge High School alum; she is currently pursuing her passion as an esthetician apprentice. Their youngest, Kyla, is in ninth grade and also a proud GFA graduate.
She feels incredibly fortunate that all three of her children had the opportunity to attend Good Foundations Academy and learn from the same dedicated teachers and staff she has been honored to work with.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She's proud to serve as the Key Volunteer for her husband’s unit in the Utah Air National Guard, where she supports military families throughout the year. In her free time, she also enjoy shopping, traveling, and visiting her favorite coffee spots—Dutch Bros. and Starbucks.
She was honored to be named Good Foundations Academy’s Teacher of the Year in 2014. In 2017, she was deeply grateful to receive multiple recognitions for her volunteer service: 151st Mission Support Group Volunteer of the Year, Utah Air National Guard Key Volunteer of the Year, and the Utah National Guard Service Member and Family Support Volunteer of the Year.
